Position Overview

The London Drugs Distribution Service Centre (DSC) in Richmond BC receives, warehouses and redistributes products sold in all their retail stores from BC to Manitoba. DSC General Helpers work as a team to receive, unpack, stock and ship out products. The primary responsibilities include helping to unpack container trucks, put away stock on large shelving units, pick and pack orders for shipment, build 6 or 8 foot pallets and load containers for shipment to London Drugs retail stores. In addition team members are responsible for helping to maintain equipment logs and utilize machinery to perform work safely.

Work Environment

The DSC is a “light industrial” warehouse work environment housed in a 10-acre, 2 storey facility, located at the base of No. 5 Road and the Fraser River.  It is accessible via Translink bus route 405.   Safety is a key priority.  The work environment is frequently busy with forklifts and it has moving conveyor belts in some sections. It can be noisy, busy and distracting.  There is a strong and experienced management team in place at the DSC, committed to inclusive hiring.  Training and coaching is provided.

Shift Times:

  • Day shift – dedicated start time 6:00 AM
  • Afternoon shift – dedicated start time 2:30 PM
  • Graveyard shift – dedicated start time 10:30 PM

Applicant Requirements

BC WiN is helping to recruit reliable, self-motivated individuals with a positive work attitude. Applicants must have good attention to detail and be able to accurately read/record aisle locations and product numbers.  It requires working quickly and efficiently. This job requires repetitive movement and lifting.  Candidates must be able to safely lift a minimum of 50lbs and learn how to use forklifts. He/she must demonstrate strong teamwork and at times, be able to work independently as well.

Must haves:

  • Min. 3 months similar experience
  • Physical capabilities to safely lift 50 lbs.
  • Interest and motivation to work in a warehousing career with London Drugs
  • Reliability, positive attitude and teamwork
  • Attention to detail, speed and accuracy
